In the age of social media and the constant search for recognition, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that our worth lies in popularity and influence. We strive to build platforms, gain followers, and be seen, often forgetting the true source of our purpose: the call of Jesus Christ.
How many times have we found ourselves seeking the approval of others, placing our own ambitions above God's will? We forget that, as John 15:16 says, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and have appointed you that you might go and bear fruit, and that your fruit might remain; that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you."
This verse reminds us of a fundamental truth: we are not the ones who initiate the relationship with God, but He who chooses us. The divine call precedes our response. It is an act of grace, an undeserved gift.
Psalm 100:3 says: "Know that the LORD is God; it is He who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." We are his creation, his people. We are not autonomous, nor owners of our destiny. God created us and called us with a specific purpose, and that purpose is not found in the pursuit of personal glory, but in the glorification of His name.
Often, the temptation to seek fame and recognition leads us to invert the divine order. We believe that we are the ones who approach God, that our actions and achievements make us worthy of His love. But 1 John 4:19 reminds us: "We love him because he first loved us." It is His love that moves us, His call that guides us.
Humility is the key to staying on the right path. Recognizing that everything we have and are comes from God frees us from the burden of self-promotion. It allows us to focus on serving others and fulfilling the purpose He has designed for us.

In these times of so much distraction and temptation, let us always remember that we are not the ones who call God, but He calls us. Let us acknowledge our dependence on Him and renounce the pursuit of personal glory. May humility be our guide and serving others our goal.

"Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that you are the source of all good and that you have called us by your grace. Forgive us for the times we have sought our own glory instead of yours. Help us to remember that we are your creation, your people, and that our purpose is to glorify you. Give us the humility to recognize your call and the strength to follow it. Deliver us from the temptation of self-promotion and help us to serve others with love and humility. In the name of Jesus, amen."
