In a world full of contradictions and challenges, the figure of Jesus Christ emerges as the ultimate beacon of hope, love, and truth. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to admire his life and teachings, but to embody them, aware that our actions can bring others closer to or farther from Him. Living in a way that faithfully reflects Jesus is essential, especially when wrongful acts committed in his name have led some to doubt or even reject the path of faith.
Paul's Warning: A Call to Consistency of Life
Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, urges us to have the same mind as Jesus Christ, who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to cling to, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant (see Philippians 2:5-7). Our lives must be a tangible demonstration of God's love, illuminating the darkness of injustice, despair, and sin that often characterize our society. When we live so that our light shines before people, we glorify our Father who is in heaven (see Matthew 5:16), and we offer others an attractive vision of life in Christ.
The Challenge of Being a Bridge and Not a Barrier
Each of us has the responsibility to ask ourselves: Do my actions bring people closer to Christ or push them away? We must be bridges that facilitate the encounter with Jesus, not barriers that obstruct him. This involves constant reflection and a willingness to be shaped by the Holy Spirit, allowing him to transform our lives so that they genuinely reflect the love, justice, and mercy of Jesus.
